REFERENCE
SAMPLE 1

If you have a "perfect" photo, I can paint it for you. However this is seldom the case. Usually, my paintings are made up from many photos, models, or just what I see in my head - Reference Material. Keep in mind, the better the "reference material" - the better the painting. However, I usually have to extrapulate and improve on whatever I start with. To give you a better idea of what I've done in the past, here is an example of a commission from several years ago.

After getting his own bull, Chris Charpentier went along with us guides to help "kick-out" a bull that was "held-up" in some thick stuff. The bull ran smack into Chris, and he took a picture. He said it was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to him, and he wanted a painting of it. This should have been simple, since according to him, "I got a shot of him - point blank, in the wide open. All you have to do is plug me into the scene."

Along with the photo I recieved a note: "it wasn't quite as good as I thought". If you look real hard, you can sort of see an elk.

Fortunately, the other hunter got this bull, and I had a little more to work from.

When Chris saw the final painting, all he had to say was: "That's exactly It".
